Buying for a shop? Trade pricing is available — we supply independent shops and warehouse businesses across the UK.

Swift-Lite has been making self-lighting charcoal in England since the 1950s, and Excelsior is the roll most incense shops keep behind the counter. Light the edge, give it two or three minutes to spark across and ash over, then set your bakhoor on the dished top.

Low ash and a steady heat, which matters with resin and mamool — too fierce a coal scorches the bakhoor and you get smoke instead of scent.

In the box: 8 foil-wrapped rolls × 10 discs = 80 discs, 33mm.

Burns: roughly 40–50 minutes a disc.

Lighting: hold the disc with tongs, light the edge, and wait until the sparks have crossed it and the surface has gone grey before adding bakhoor.

Safety: burn in a ventilated room, keep the burner on a heat-proof surface, never leave it unattended, and let the ash go cold before emptying it.

Delivery & returns

Royal Mail Tracked 48 is £3.75 and arrives in 2–3 working days; Tracked 24 is £4.50 and arrives in 1–2. Delivery is free once your basket reaches £50. Orders are picked and posted the next working day — anything ordered Friday to Sunday goes out on the Monday. We ship within the UK only.
Changed your mind? Tell us within 14 days of delivery. Charcoal has to come back with the box and the foil rolls unopened — once a roll is opened the discs take up moisture and we can't resell them. If it arrives damaged, send us a photo within 48 hours and we will replace it — nothing to post back.

Is it genuine?

Yes. Everything we list is bought as sealed retail stock and held on our own shelves here in the UK. Nothing is decanted, refilled or drop-shipped. We began as a wholesaler supplying independent shops across the UK, and still do.

Lighting a disc

  • Hold the disc with tongs — never your fingers — and touch a flame to the edge. It will spark and the glow travels across on its own.
  • Set it dished side up in the burner and give it two or three minutes. When the surface has greyed over it is ready for the bakhoor.
  • A little foil or sand under the disc keeps the burner clean and stops the metal getting fiercely hot.
  • Burn in a room with some air moving through it, keep the burner on a heat-proof surface, and never leave it unattended.
  • Let the ash go completely cold before emptying it. Keep unused rolls sealed and dry — damp discs will not light properly.
